A MID 18TH CENTURY QUARTER REPEATING EBONISED BRACKET CLOCK

Surmounted by a handle over applied pierced mounts to the lower section of the inverted bell top, with a deep concave moulded cresting, circular and shaped side apertures backed with pierced gilt metal mounts, on a plinth base with brass block feet, the 6.75 inch arched brass dial with strike/silent subsidiary over a Roman and Arabic chapter ring enclosing the matted centre with mock pendulum aperture and chamfered square date aperture, the movement with substantial plates united by six knopped pillars, later conversion to anchor escapement with twin chain fusees, rack strike on the hour and repeating the quarters on a nest of six bells and hammers, the backplate engraved with foliate scrolls, a basket of fruit and lattice work 49cm (19in) high.
